FAQS

What is the minimum trophy size at WOTO?

Western Oklahoma Trophy Outfitters has a strict 3.5+ year old or 135” minimum.  We have this policy in order to insure that our big 2.5 year old bucks do not get harvested.  There is a $750 fine for any buck harvested that is younger than 3.5 years old or falls under the 135” criteria.

When do I arrive at the WOTO lodge?

We ask our hunters to make arrangements to arrive anytime after 3 PM on the day prior to their first day of hunting.

What types of hunting stands are available at WOTO?

Being in the wide open country of Western Oklahoma we mainly use elevated box blinds and ground blinds depending on the strategy planned out for your hunt.  We also keep a large number of portable pop up blinds on hand for any change in wind direction or change of plans that might take place in order to provide you with the best opportunity at a trophy whitetail or Rio Grande Turkey.

What happens if a trophy buck is wounded and not found at WOTO?

This is the part of hunting that every hunter dreads and prays never happens to them. The reality is that if you hunt long enough, it will more than likely happen to you.  Our staff will put in many hours to find your wounded animal, but a wound is still a kill and whether found or not found, the hunt is over.  We try to remind all of our hunters to only take ethical, high percentage shots to ensure we keep our trophy herd from being wounded and lost.  If you have any questions please contact us.

Are guide tips included in the price of the hunt?

No, our guides work extrememly hard to make sure you have a safe and memorable hunt. The average tip percentage is 10-15% of the hunt value.

The hunting:

We will not know which lodge we will be hunting until the week prior to arrival as that is when the scouting will actually matter and we will reach out and send coordinates of the lodge you are hunting at.

Depending on the movement if we hunt all day we will provide you with a sack lunch to sit all day. If movement isn't ideal, we will pick you up at 11am for lunch and take you back out to hunt generally between 2-3pm

Average shot with a bow is within 40 yards, although the further you can accurately shoot the better

Average Rifle shot is inside of 200 yards however we prefer everyone to be comfortable out to 300

During our deer hunts, we allow you to shoot one hog as well
